To ensure we are complying with Government COVID-19 guidelines to restrict the possible contamination of resources, we shall be using Google Classroom to host our weekly homework. This online platform shall reduce the need for worksheets and homework jotters to go back and forth between school and home. Your child may be required to upload to their Google classroom either an online document or a picture of their jotter work or worksheet. Guidance will follow on how to do this.
Your child’s classroom has been set virtually for them to join. The instructions below will show you how to do this.
Homework will go live on Google Classroom from week beginning 31.8.20. It is vital that you have logged in before then.
How to Access your Google Classroom
Login to GLOW
Google Classroom is designed to help teachers and students communicate and collaborate, manage assignments electronically, and stay organised. Google Classroom is part of the Google Apps for Education suite of tools.
Pupils should log into their Glow account at:
Primary 1 pupils will be sent their Glow usernames and passwords separately in order to log in. Please keep an eye out for the email which will be sent shortly.
Primary 2 to 7 pupils should already be aware of their GLOW accounts and can enter as they did during lockdown. Please note they will be required to change their Glow password. Please contact Mr Wedlock by email address if there are any issues: firstname.lastname@example.org
Once logged into GLOW click on the Google Classroom tile on the Launchpad.
The Google Classroom app can also be downloaded onto your tablet or mobile phone.
Login to the app in the same way as above (using @sl.glow.scot after your glow username).
Join your Class
Your child has already been invited to join their virtual Google Classroom and all that is required of them is to click ‘Join’ as shown in the picture.
Once this has been done they will have full access to the class and homework posts.
We request that all pupils have joined up to their Google Classroom by Friday 28th August to allow us to start using it for Homework the week beginning 31st August.
If for any reason you are unable set up Google Classroom due to a child forgetting their log in and password, a lack of access to technology (i.e. computer/internet) or experience any problems joining your child’s class please email Mr Wedlock at email@example.com.
